It’s a topsy-turvy world

"When the earth goes topsy-turvy and nobody knows which end is up, I nail it all down, I put everything in place again.” — Psalm 75:3 (MSG version)

It’s a topsy-turvy world! Don’t you think? Everything is all over the place. The world is not as it should be. We have entered, or are about to enter, a new period of lockdown as the coronavirus pandemic ravages our world once again.

We’ve been here before – months ago – and it wasn’t nice back then; no doubt, this time round, it will be no better. Loneliness will increase once more; our mental health will become more precarious. We wonder when it will all end, what the world will look like when it ends, and how will we all be – if we survive. Many, with chronic health problems, fear for their lives.

I thank God I have a faith – that I believe there is a God, and a God that is in control of our world. That doesn’t make it any easier to understand why this is happening – in fact, it can make it more difficult at times. How can a loving God allow the terror and the terrible toll we have paid for this pandemic? Our world has been turned upside down, and everything is topsy-turvy.

But having a faith gives me hope – and the Bible tells me that:

When the earth goes topsy-turvy and nobody knows which end is up, I nail it all down, I put everything in place again.”

Psalm 75:3 (MSG version)

That is His promise – He will “put everything in place again.” Soon, Lord, soon, I pray!

May we pray: Thank You, Lord, that you promise to put everything in place again. We ask that you do this soon, in the precious name of our Saviour, Christ Jesus; Amen.
