HIStory Lesson

Heading Sub Heading

Let me tell you in a short sentence a little bit about my life: I made a huge MESS.   That’s my history, my past.

But one day, God got hold of me.   He took my MESS and turned into His MESSage.   He took the sordid story of my past and turned it into HIS STORY.

The past is gone, forgiven, forgotten in the eyes of my heavenly Father.   And from now on it is HIStory.

My history was one of being a slave to sin; His story is one of being released from the shackles of past wrong-doings and sin.

My history was one of retribution and revenge; His story is one of being redeemed by the price of the blood of His precious Son, Jesus Christ.

My history was one of repetitive, compulsive, dysfunctional living; His story is one of being reformed, made into a new creation by the work of the Holy Spirit within me.

My history is a ruined past, rejected and abandoned, unloved and unwanted; His story is one of being restored as a child of God, chosen, and loved and adopted into the family of Christ.

His story can be part of your history, and it begins with repentance.

Repentance is a turning away, turning your back away from the things of this world.   Jesus turned His back on Satan.   He said, “Get behind me, Satan.”

Repentance is a turning away from the wrong things you have done in the past, and declaring, “NO MORE!”

Repentance is a turning away from the desires of the soul.   The soul cries, “Feed me, ‘greed’ me, satisfy me.”   The Spirit whispers, “Seek first the kingdom of God, and a right way of living, then everything else will be given to you.”

Repentance is a turning away from temptations.   The soul cries, “I need.”   The Spirit whispers, “Look at the birds of the sky and the flowers of the field; they neither struggle nor strive, yet they flourish and blossom.”

HIS story began on earth over 2,000 years ago on Christmas day.   When will your story start?   When will your story become HIS story?   When will you allow God to turn your MESS into His MESSage?

Many people think, “It’s too late; I’m too bad; my sin is too much.”   Others think, “But people can’t change!”   And they might be right, people can’t change – but God can change people.

Jesus came into the world to die for the world.   Are you in the world?   Then that includes you, too; He died for you.   The question is, do you want to live?

Living for Jesus gives meaning to your life; living for Jesus gives purpose for your life; living for Jesus gives freedom in your life.   Freedom from guilt and shame and worry and having to carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders.   Jesus says, “Take my weight; your worries are too much to bear, but my load is light and easy to shoulder.”

This Christmas, why not leave your history where it belongs, in the past?   From this moment onwards, why not make your life part of HIS STORY?

We’re taking a break now over the Christmas period. If you would like to know more about how to make your life part of HIS STORY, and make Jesus a part of your life, we would love to hear from you. You can contactus@misfitsministries.co.uk.   We pray that you hear from heaven itself this Christmas, that God speaks to you through all the activities of the season, and makes known the real reason for the season – that Jesus Christ was sent to earth to die for you and for me, for all of us, so that we may live and have a right relationship with the living God, living a good life on earth and then meeting Him face to face one day in heaven. Have a great Christmas, and May God Bless You.
