“Learn to be thankful for what you have, while you pursue all that you want.” — Jim Rohn, American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker (1930-2009)
We often spend all our time trying to achieve something we want and forget to be grateful for what we already have. There’s nothing wrong with pursuing your dreams, but don’t forget to be grateful for where you already are, however insecure that may be. Let’s face it, we’re alive and kicking … well, breathing at least!
Of course, we must be careful of what we want. How often do we pursue our dreams to find out that when we get there, it’s not what we thought it would be like in the first place and we end up being disappointed?
So, rather than pursuing our own dreams and striving for what we want, why not try and find out what God’s plan is for us? After all, He created us, and created us on purpose and for a purpose. When we step into what God’s plan is, we often find that it is, after all, what we want, what we really, really want; and we feel fulfilled and satisfied.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
May we step into God’s plan for our future over this coming week, and may we be grateful for where He has already brought us and what we already have.
