“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” — Les Brown, American politician and motivational speaker (born 1945)
My fear is heights. It’s an irrational fear. Even when I have two feet on solid ground and a few feet away from the edge of the precipice, where even if I fall I would just hit the floor rather than plummet into the abyss, my stomach churns. I freeze, literally. However much I might will my legs to take me closer, to look over the edge, they simply won’t move!
But it’s not enough to prevent me from walking the mountains of Wales. Perhaps I wouldn’t climb to the very tops of every stony outcrop like my friend in the photograph and even my old dog. She would walk everywhere, she was fearless when it came to heights. People, that was a different matter. Being a rescue dog, she would cower behind my legs when meeting new people or even out walking when there were too many people nearby.
What fears do you have that have prevented you from living the life of your dreams? Often, for many, it’s a fear of failure. Jesus said,
“Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”
Excerpt Mark 5:36 (NLT)
Just have faith. Faith overcomes fear. Believe, believe that God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and if you step out in faith, you too can live the life of your dreams.
