“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” — 1 Peter 5:10 (NIV)

We all suffered a little last year, some more than others, and some are still suffering this year. We are not alone in our suffering, and it’s nothing unusual. The current crisis may be unprecedented in our time, but throughout history we read of suffering and many a crisis.

Our response as Christians should be to seek solace in Scripture. It is difficult to find any answers to our current situation, and it has thrown us all into turmoil and division. Some question the very existence of a crisis at all.

Regardless of our belief about the current crisis and the choices made by our government, we should remain steadfast in our trust and our belief in Scripture, which promises that “God … will himself restore” and make us “strong, firm and steadfast.” Now that’s something to agree upon and dwell upon.

The #SundayScripture chosen each week this year will reflect the daily Scripture verse in the Bible app, YouVersion. Why not download the app, or log in online, each day so that you can read a daily Scripture verse?
