“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” — John 10:11 (NKJV)

Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd.”

Think about that for a minute. Jesus said, “I am…” I am, the good shepherd.

You see, when God announced Himself to Moses back in the Old Testament, He told Moses that His name was “I AM WHO I AM” and to tell his people that “I AM” had sent him (Moses) to the people of Israel. So, when Jesus says, “I am,” He is saying that He is God and that He is the good shepherd.

God is the good shepherd. Jesus is the good shepherd. And the good shepherd gives His life for His sheep – He sacrifices His life to care for His sheep, to save His sheep, to rescue His sheep.

Don’t go astray today, look for the shepherd, turn to the shepherd, go to the shepherd. May you know Him as He says to you today and this coming week: I AM, the good shepherd, who gave His life for you, loves you and cares for you.

The #SundayScripture chosen each week this year will reflect the daily Scripture verse in the Bible app, YouVersion. Why not download the app, or log in online, each day so that you can read a daily Scripture verse?
