“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” — Helen Keller, (1880-1968) American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer who lost her sight and hearing after a bout of illness at the age of nineteen months.
I must admit that I don’t know much about Helen Keller’s life. I do know that at the age of nineteen months she lost her sight and hearing after an illness. I cannot imagine what life would have been like for her.
Yet, she speaks to eloquently about optimism, faith, hope and confidence.
When I hear her words, I have to pray and ask for forgiveness for the times that I have lacked optimism, the times I have lacked faith, the times that I have lost hope, and the times that I have lacked confidence.
