“Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.” — Maya Angelou, American poet and civil rights activist (1928-2014).

Family. For some it conjures up warm and comfortable feelings of security, love and belonging; for others of us it conjures up harsh memories of insecurity, negativity and rejection.

But at this time of year, we all crave family; we all have a longing for a belonging. And we are reminded of One who was born on that very first CHRISTmas day – Christ Jesus Himself – who was born to bring us ALL into His family. We were, and still are, invited in; we were, and still are, being adopted IN to the family when we say, “YES, I believe.” Now, you belong.

As Maya Angelou said, “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for who you are.” As one who knows what it’s like for people not to want you in their lives, as one who knows what it’s like to be rejected and ostracised for who I was; I know how precious it is to be wanted, as I am, unconditionally.

And Jesus wants you! God wants you in the family. The Holy Spirit will testify to you that you are loved and wanted and very much invited into the family.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

1 John 3:1

Are you in? Or do you still belong to this world, and all its trappings and its troubles? Why not, this Christmas, become part of the family? You’re invited, you are loved, and you are very much wanted – just as you are, warts and all (if you have any, doesn’t matter if you don’t)! It’s simply your choice. The door is always ready, all you have to do is knock and it will be opened, and then you’re in! There’s no password, you don’t have to bring a bottle or anything else for that matter, just come as you are.

Join us this Christmas and be part of God’s family. It could be your very best Christmas ever! May God Bless You, and we hope to see you soon.
